My name is George L. Hayes V—most people call me Cinc.

I’m a contractor and designer with over 20 years of experience, blending a creative background with hands-on building skills. If you’re looking for someone who can bring both craftsmanship and a designer’s eye to your project, I’d love to help. I specialize in custom work—things like one-of-a-kind fences, artistic carpentry pieces, whimsical garden structures, and even custom wooden bridges.

My path here has been a winding and creative one. I originally started college as a design major, and later earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies. After that, I spent years working in experiential marketing and large-scale events, representing major national brands and traveling extensively across the country. I even spent a year traveling for Crayola Crayons teaching kids art across the nation. I’ve also had the opportunity to work on creative projects in different settings—from brand activations to immersive, hands-on artistic environments.

At my core, I’ve always been an artist. A residency in San Francisco gave me time to fully focus on that side of myself—experimenting, learning, and connecting with other creatives. Eventually, I returned home to Chapel Hill and decided to bring everything I’d learned into the world of building and design. I completed a two-year design-build program through a trade school and added formal contractor training to my background.

Today, I love collaborating with clients to turn ideas into something real, functional, and beautiful. Every project is a chance to build something unique.
