I designed and constructed a custom cedar arbor/shelter for the annual "Come Out and Play" sculpture show. The arbor was crafted from reclaimed cedar wood that I personally harvested. Utilizing mortise kits, I meticulously joined each piece, a process that required significant time and attention to detail. To enhance the structure's aesthetic appeal, I incorporated vintage metal roofing sheets, which I painted in a vibrant exterior blue—a color traditionally used in historic homes in Charleston, South Carolina, believed to ward off spirits. Upon completion, I disassembled the arbor and reassembled it on-site for the "Come Out and Play" show which place from August to September 2025. This project not only showcases my craftsmanship but also reflects a deep appreciation for both traditional techniques and local cultural heritage.
